The Citadel of Chaos: 31, 169, 151, 197, 363, 64, 366, 140: Monsters Live Here

Wistful smile still on my face, I walk across the room and beyond.

Choice: Go On: 169

Ah, the medieval evil boardroom.

Who in a medieval-ish fantasy setting uses individual chairs? Just get a couple benches.

First thing's first. I walk back into the party room and inform them all that there's a massive mess hall they could be using for their jubilations. They laugh and tell me they know, but do not come through.

     Well, that's ominous.

Curious about the ironworking of my enemy, I head to examine the armor.

Choice: Investigate Armour: 151

2 Stamina? They knocked the ale right out of me!

I hold my hand up to my bloodied nose, and look at the suit of armor.

"You miscreant," I say. I reach for my sword. Then I think better of it as the armor stays still. Forget it, Dirk. Let it pass.

     Hee... that's just funny.
Stamina: 9-2=7

Choice: None: 363

Without even thinking, Dirk plows through the center door.

Choice: Center: 64

Aw.... look at the little monsters. All playing with little monster dolls. Eeeiiie!

Focus on the cute monsters, don't ask questions about the black splatter halfway up the wall in the back. Don't ask. Don't even look at it. It isn't there!

This description feels racist.

"Hello there," i say with a broad smile, "How're you three doing?"

Where are we, Britaina?

Draw my sword and... what They're children! Armed with stuffed dolls!

This is up there with stabbing the dwarf in the last book. The thing is, there's a non-zero chance this is an elaborate trap, but everything I've seen so far suggests that monsters just live here, so their kids being around seems normal enough. Not that I know why you'd stick their tiny room on a balcony over a mess hall.

Pretty sure I'm fresh out of sweets in my bag. Let's just go on through.

"I'm just here to see Master Dire," I say as I stride across the room, "Don't suppose you know where he is?"

Choice: Confidence: 366

"The Hell kind of monster is that, Gz'orbok?"

"No, I suppose not," I say. I smile one last time, tight lipped so not to show teeth, "Have a nice day."

Choice: On we go: 140

"Oh come on," I say to no one in particular. "Who designs a staircase, a spiral staircase that is broken in the middle of it?"

With an aggravated sigh I throw open the Left door.

Choice: Left Door: 25
