Starship Traveller: 171, 108, 140, 8: The PC Police

Someone tell these planets to keep their phones charged.
Well, Pyriba is already going. Let's grab Bal from the Guards.

I let out an ill-natured groan at the lack of response from below. "Honestly, is it so hard to send a radio broadcast back?"

The bridge just stares at me, unsure how to answer. I shake my head. "Pyriba, Bal, we're going down."

Oh, shoot, it's the fuzz!
I don't need a second warning. I trust the desperation in the translator's verison of the voice, and follow swiftly into the building.

Pyriba needs no second warning either. Bal, on the other hand, reaches for her phaser. And I have to bark an order to bring her in line. She obeys, but I don't like the hesitation.
Is the mantis about to sell me a used ship?

Props to Peter Andrew Jones (watch it, only assassins have 3 names) for including the alien, the weird buildings and the hover car in the same image. Bit odd how they're framed together, but it works. Mostly, however, this image just reminds me of something else...

A reference at once mainstream and obscure...
Right? I mean, everyone else immediately thought of that, too. Right?

       I'm not weird! You're weird!

Wait... no one dies.... so they kill people... by... making them... die?
"Are all the planets in this Unierse dumb, or are we just unlucky?" I ask to no one in particular. Our host tilts his head so severly it turns upside down. "Uh..." I say, "No offense intended. It's been a difficult trip."

"Hold on," Pyriba says, "When you say you don't die... explain. Please. This is very important."

The creature opens its mouth to explain the great secret of his world.

FINGER BEAMS!
Bal again reaches for her phaser. Pyriba reaches for our fallen host. It's left to me to give the wretched order. "Obey!" I tell my crew, "Go along with the rightful authorities."

They look at me in a way that makes me feel even more wretched, but I do not back down from my course of backing down.

Is there any crime not punishable by extermination?

I move toward the vehicle, making every outward sign of obedience. I do however, give a few discrete hand signals to my crew. Best to be ready.

Choice: Pretend to Comply: 8

Hey! I describe the fight scenes around here!

Bal lares at me as we are shoved roughly into the vehicle. She would have rather just shot them and hoped for the best. I'd still rather not resort to that. Still thinking on the strange halting that occurred when the helmet was removed, I wait silently for our next chance to escape.

Interesting... knowledge giving a bonus to a roll later is a pretty cool feature. Makes me feel like trying a thing has a direct positive result, without resorting to handing out strange objects. Going to have to look out for the "**".
